Our Diverse Places in a Cohesive Europe
(Developing Cultural Awareness and the Promotion of Tolerance and Understanding)
Comenius Project for the Primary School 2013 – 2015
The primary objective will be for each Partner School to develop video and on-line learning resources where students can learn to talk and listen in other EU languages with a particular focus on the language connected to the communication of feelings and the resolution of conflict at a personal level and the determination of the individuals place with local, national and European wide communities. In so doing we aim to develop greater social and personal awareness and greater levels of cultural awareness between students in the partner countries. We also aim to promote the importance of language awareness and the use of new and existing modes of communication as tools to share our ideas, thoughts and feelings in order to improve the quality of life of students across the partner countries.
The Partnership's clearly defined sequential plan reflects the precise title, "Our Diverse Places in a Cohesive Europe”. The two year duration is divided into four, approximately six monthly, semesters, with each having a theme which leads to the next.
The semesters and themes are:
Localities – uniqueness of the PartnerSchool and its surrounding area Beginning of August 2013 until February 2014
Countries – distinctiveness of the nation Beginning of February 2014 until the end of September 2014
Europe – shared citizenship Beginning of October 2014 until the end of February 2015
